Perhaps setting a new standard for major political speeches, county Executive Mark Hackel delivered a high-tech State of the County address Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Ignoring past practices of staid State of the County speeches that offered information on tax rates and budget minutiae, Hackel focused on the big picture, promoting recreational activities and economic development on Lake St. Clair and the Clinton River that he said could lead Macomb into a prosperous decade.
